Hi there, and welcome to our little corner of the interwebs! We are three sisters who live next door to each other with our families in the suburbs south of Boston. We call this little cluster of absurdity “The Compound.” We decided to start a blog to share our weird obsessions with the world, and document our shenanigans (doesn’t that sound promising?) Don’t worry, this will mostly entail recipes, book recommendations, places we love, and things of that nature.

So without further ado, here’s a little bit about us:

Janine is the oldest sister. She is mom to Liam, age 3, and wife to Torrey, who prefers to remain 29 forever. She dreams of owning a farm and is still shocked to find herself working in publishing and traveling into the city each day. In the meantime, she consoles herself by stalking farmer’s markets, cooking excessive amounts of food in her crock pot, making her own laundry soap, and throwing potatoes in her dirt cellar in the hope that it will miraculously turn into a root cellar. She becomes obsessed with things like French presses and flour sack dish towels. Whether you like it or not, she’ll share all of these googling results with you. We know you’re excited.

Kate is the middle sister. She lives in the Compound with her husband William and 1 year-old daughter Hannah Rose. By day she is a stay-at-home-mom-slash-Compound-daycare-provider, as well as a freelance artist & graphic designer. By night… she… mostly just sleeps. And dreams about delicious food, good wine, opening Etsy shops, and the possibility of a Gilmore Girls movie. She has a weird obsession with Wes Anderson movies, and likes to pretend she’s on the Food Network while making dinner.

Theresa is the youngest adult member of The Compound. Although there are now actual babies living in the compound, she still considers herself the baby and requires constant attention. She’s currently working on her master’s degree in information and library science while working as a library assistant in a large library just outside of Boston. She enjoys watching and quoting re-runs of 90s sitcoms, snuggling babies, stalking food blogs and trying to convince her husband to get her a puppy. She can often be found running between the houses wearing ugly pajamas.

We would love to hear any comments or suggestions you might have! Please feel free to email us at artofcompoundliving [at] gmail [dot]com.
